It is with deep sadness we regret to advise that our Founding Member, the wonderful Norma Goodall, has passed away.
Our sincerest sympathies go to Norma’s beloved daughter Neryl, and family.
Norma gathered a few fellow doll-enthusiasts in her home back in 1976 & proposed they form a ‘club’. Hence the Brisbane Doll Society Inc was formed. Still going strong 43 years later, we have EVERYTHING to thank Norma for – her wondrous vision saw the club grow from those first 6 Members to what it is today! A simply FANTASTIC achievement for a hobby that has had its fair share of HIGHS & TROUGHS, the enthusiasm for preserving & collecting dolls today is stronger than ever!
THANK YOU NORMA for your beautiful spirit. We will never forget you!! – – VALE NORMA!

It is with deep sadness that we advise of the sudden passing of our beloved long-term Member Pam MacFarlane earlier this week. Pam was well-loved and a Member of both Brisbane Doll Society Inc & the Northside Doll Circle.
Pam always had a cheery smile & was well-known for wearing her outrageous outfits to suit every special occasion – from Fairy to Witch & everything in-between. The children in our club absolutely adored her as she was always playing fun games with them whenever she saw them. She was a very enthusiastic Member & contributed in so many ways, always stepping in where necessary. As she didn’t drive, Pam would take the bus to wherever she needed to go, and was seen at the most amazing places, often very far from her home in Stafford! Just picture the cute fairy on the bus with her trolley of dolls!!
Pam’s pet bird & the rest of her friends here will miss her dearly, and we all feel just so glad & privileged that we were all able to enjoy her precious company one last big day at our Christmas Party last Sunday.
Pam, we will truly miss you, and are deeply moved by
Well, we’ve GRADUATED! Instead of the top floor small Meeting Room at Bar-Jai, we have now opted to use the HUGE downstairs hall so are able to spread ourselves out in the ample surroundings! So from now on, that’s where you’ll find us. We are also able to park on the lower street in Station Road as the entrance is more accessible for those less-mobile, although Haig Road is still fine for those with no mobility problems.
The Monthly Competition of ‘Oldest Doll’brought some fine specimens out of the woodworks, with the winning entry a delightful Jumeau/ Brudressed in
her original finery.
Raffle Prize winners Cheryl & Trish were more than happy with their lovely prizes.
This month’s meeting was bittersweet, having to say farewell to Emily, one of our long-standing Members, who is moving to Townsville to be closer to her son & his family. We bid Emily a fond adieu!
Looking forward to the final event of the year now – our Annual Christmas Luncheon to be held at a new venue – the Salisbury Hotel on 2nd December. See you there!
